Michael Menkes has lived in British Columbia his entire life and has been serving the community here since 1996. His practise has always focused on the individual and his and her legal needs when dealing with conflicts or in planning to avoid them.
Mr. Menkes has both his Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor of Laws from the University of British Columbia and has been called to the bar in British Columbia since May 17, 1996.
Mr. Menkes has won notable cases over his career in diverse areas of law including real estate disputes, wills and estate disputes, contract claims, and insurance claims. Links to example cases can be found under the corresponding areas of law.
More recently, Mr. Menkes is in the process of completing courses in mediation with the Justice Institute of BC in order to better serve his clients in alternative dispute resolution as well as to assist others in resolving disputes in the role of the mediator.
Mr. Menkes is also dedicated to alternative dispute resolution, including mediation, and has reached settlements in countless matters by making use of mediation and other alternatives to trials in courtrooms. This is often the most cost effective and satisfactory approach to putting an end to disputes.
Mr. Menkes volunteers his time assisting UBC Law Students provide free legal services for people who cannot afford lawyers through the UBC Law Students Legal Advice Clinic and his skills as an amateur musician of 45 years experience to help raise funds for charity events.
